Since moving to Miami about a year ago, my husband and I have been discovering our local favorites. These are the ones that have made our list so far.
Coffee Shops
Pasión Del Cielo – At this coffee shop, you get to choose the beans! They have coffee beans from all over the world including Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Hawaii, just to name a few. You pick which beans you want and then how its made, e.g. caramel latte, espresso, raspberry mocha, etc. I’ve never seen this concept before. It’s also a great study space.
Paolo Fontanot – If you’re looking for more food options, this Italian bakery has delicious pastries and sandwiches.
The Salty – For a sweet treat with your coffee, check out The Salty for gourmet donuts.
Magdalena Coffee & Houseplants – For a beautiful modern aesthetic and a delicious caramel iced latte, you’ll have to try Magdalena.
Brunch Cafés
Granier Bakery – A European Cafe that first opened in Barcelona, Spain, Granier offers a full breakfast menu and salads along with its coffees, pastries, empanadas, and quiches. Whether you want grab and go or sit down, this is a must-visit.
Caffé & Bottega – This café is located in the DoubleTree Grand Hotel, but you don’t have to stay there to visit it. The food is delicious, and afterwards there’s a whole mini mall you can wander around or go outside and walk by the marina and Margret Pace Park.
Lunch
Smorgasburg – This outdoor food market collective is located in Wynwood every Saturday and Sunday. Check out @smorgasburgmiami on Instagram for updated hours.
The Daily Creative – This sandwich shop has amazing wraps and salads too. The menu has so many options, you’re bound to find something you like.
Carrot Express – For healthy and vegan options, try Carrot Express. Their menu has juices, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, power bowls, and more.
Fresh Kitchen – Another healthy option, Fresh Kitchen is a grab and go bowl restaurant. I love their sweet potato glass noodles.
Happy Hour
Klaw – This restaurant is a fancy dinner date place, but it also has a chic rooftop bar with great Happy Hour deals on select drinks and small plates. The Happy Hour runs all night from 5 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 5-7 PM Thursday through Saturday. Check their website for updated hours.
Negroni – Nestled in the heart of Midtown, Negroni has a Happy Hour from 4-7 PM daily with deals on cocktails, craft beer, wine, and small plates.
BOHO House – This quirky spot is on a side street that you probably wouldn’t just stumble upon, but somehow we did. Their full menu is only small plates and drinks. The bacon-wrapped dates are amazing. Their “Sunset Hour” runs daily from 5-8 PM except Tuesdays and offers select cocktails for $5 and beer & wine for $3. These prices are unheard of in Miami! Check their website for updates.
Dinner
Daek Thai Eatery – When I go out for Thai food, I always get the Pad See Ew or the Green Curry, and Daek had one of the best Green Curry dishes I’ve ever had. They also have a sushi menu if you’re feeling sushi instead.
Pasta e Basta – Italian food is our favorite, and even after our honeymoon in Italy, this place did not disappoint!
Pinocchio on the Bay – This unassuming Italian deli & café actually has amazing lasagna and pasta specials with wine and gelato. Their dinner menu is quite limited, but I’d say the quality of the pasta makes it a hidden gem.
Dessert
Fluffy Fluffy – Breakfast or dessert, I’m not positive which to categorize this cafe under. Fluffy Fluffy has the fluffiest soufflé pancakes you’ve ever seen, and they’re covered in creme, fruit, and other decadent toppings. They also offer croffles (croissant waffles).
Midtown Creamery – The best ice cream shop we’ve tried so far.
We are excited to keep exploring our new home and expanding this list! What did we miss? What’s the next place we should check out?
Cheers!
Sarah
